Spaghetti with Meatballs in Tomato-Basil Sauce

Do you fancy Spaghetti with a healthy touch for tonight? Well, i am proposing the one below. This is a Recipe for healthy and juicy Meatballs in Tomato-Basil Sauce. They are healthy, because they aren't fried, but oven-baked. They are super delicious, you can also eat them without sauce, if you want to save calories. Additionally, they are juicy, because of "secret" ingredients you can read below.

Ingredients

For Meatballs

500 gr. Beef Mince

4 Toast Bread Slices

1 big Onion

1 clove Garlic

3 tbsp. minced Parsley

1 Tomato, chopped

1 Pepper, minced

2 tbsp. Olive Oil

3-4 tbsp. Milk

Pepper

Salt


For Tomato-Basil Sauce

400 gr. chopped Tomatoes (fresh or can)

1 tbsp. chopped Basil

2 tbsp. Olive Oil

1 finely chopped Onion

1 cup Water

1/2 teaspoon Nutmeg

Pepper

Salt


Garniture

Basil or chopped Fresh Spring Onions

Grated Parmesan


Method

For Meatballs

  • Preheat oven in 200 degrees (Fan).

  • In a food processor add onion, garlic, pepper, tomato parsley and beat until minced.

  • In a big bowl, add beef mince.

  • Transfer minced vegetables and parsley from the food processor to the bowl with the beef mince.

  • Put the toast bread slices to the food processor, add milk and let for 30 seconds to be absorbed. Beat for 1 minute.

  • Add minced toast bread to the bowl with the rest ingredients.

  • Add olive oil, salt, pepper and mix with your hands until homogenised.

  • Form into small meatballs (approx. 20 gr.) and place them in an oven pan with baking paper.

  • Bake in 200 degrees for 40 minutes.

For Tomato-Basil Sauce

  • In a frying pan add olive oil and heat in high heat for a minute.

  • Add finely chopped onion and sauté.

  • Add chopped tomatoes, basil and water.

  • Season with salt and pepper, add nutmeg and cook in medium heat for 20 minutes or until liquids are evaporated.

  • Add meatballs to the sauce, cover frying pan with the lid and shimmer for 10 minutes.

Cook Spaghetti and serve with Meatballs in Tomato-Basil Sauce!

Garnish with Basil, chopped Fresh Spring Onion and grated Parmesan!!!
