Fried Cheese Pies

Fried Bread Pies anyone?? These fried bread pies are filled with white vegan cheese and drizzled with honey! They are soft on the inside and crispy on the outside! Salty from its filling, sweet from honey! Ideal for breakfast or as a snack.

Ingredients (for 8 cheese pies)

For Dough

500 gr. All Purpose-Flour

15 gr. Dry Yeast

300 ml lukewarm Water

1 tsp. Sugar

1 tbsp. Salt

30 ml Olive Oil

Sunflower Oil (for frying)

For Filling

200 gr. Vegan White Cheese (or Feta Cheese)

1 tbsp. Sesame



  • In a small bowl add yeast, sugar and half water. Stir and allow to stand for 10 minutes, until yeast will be activated.

  • In a big bowl add flour and make a hole in the middle. Add the yeast mixture, the rest water, olive oil, salt and stir with a spoon.

  • When dough is starting to be formed, transfer on a clean surface and knead with your hands for 10 minutes. Dough should be soft and elastic.

  • Transfer dough to a bowl, that you lightly brushed with olive oil.

  • Cover dough with a a towel and set aside for 1 1/2 hour or until double in size.

  • Transfer dough on a lightly floured surface and knead for 1-2 minutes.

  • Cut dough into 8 isometric pieces.

  • Using a rolling pin, roll out each piece, approx. 0,2 cm (see picture), sprinkle in the middle with white cheese or feta cheese, roll into a "sausage" and then into a "snail".

  • Roll out each "snail" with the rolling pin (approx. 0,5 cm), sprinkle each side with sesame (press lightly with your hands until sesame sticks on the dough).

  • Fry each side on medium heat for approx. 2-3 minutes.

  • Repeat the same method for every dough piece.

  • Serve with honey.
